Washington, D.C. – March for Life Action today celebrates the final passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a historic piece of legislation that ends taxpayer funding for abortion providers – including the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. The bill now heads to the President’s desk for his signature.
“The American people should not have to continue subsidizing the abortion industry – and now, thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill, they won’t be.” said Jennie Bradley Lichter, President of March for Life Action. “We joyfully anticipate President Trump signing this landmark legislation, which ensures that Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars are not being used to prop up an industry whose business model is built on ending human lives, misleading pregnant women into thinking that abortion is their only option, and delivering substandard healthcare that they then charge to the government.
“For years the majority of Americans have said they reject this status quo. Women deserve better – America deserves better – and we thank President Trump, Speaker of the House Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader Thune, as well as all of the other pro-life champions in Congress who brought this bill across the finish line.”
Defunding abortion providers like Planned Parenthood is a revolutionary advancement in women’s healthcare that will prevent hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds from being funneled to Big Abortion. Instead, women, children, and families relying on Medicaid benefits can be served by Community Health Centers (CHCs) and other facilities that offer a wider range of healthcare services – including prenatal care. CHCs currently outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities 15 to 1 nationwide, offering women far better options for comprehensive, compassionate healthcare that is untethered to a political agenda. There are also nearly 3,000 pregnancy resource centers and more than 450 maternity homes throughout the country that provide free life-affirming care, resources, and services that benefit pregnant women and their babies.
This comes on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic which upheld individual states’ authority to defund abortion providers.
Planned Parenthood’s own data reveals the truth behind its business model:
-
- In 2023-24 alone, Planned Parenthood performed 400K+ abortions (more than ever before). In 2022-23, prenatal services, miscarriage care and adoption referrals accounted for just a tiny fraction of its services (1.7%, 0.9%, and 0.5% respectively)
- 97% of pregnant women who entered a Planned Parenthood clinic left without their baby
- Since 2013, Planned Parenthood’s cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 54%, including declines of 61% for breast exams and 54% for pap tests, and even prenatal services are down 63%
- A February 2025 New York Times report uncovered a pattern of dangerous, substandard care at Planned Parenthood clinics across the country including reports of unsanitary conditions, medication errors, and patients being prepped for the wrong procedures
- Planned Parenthood poured nearly $70 million into partisan election activity during the 2024 cycle alone through its powerful political and advocacy organizations
